Biography

Phil is a gifted musician, singer, song writer and author. He has traveled the world in his years while functioning in his many roles. His signature statement is “When an opportunity presents itself, do not be afraid of ridicule, rejection or failure. If it doesn’t work out this time, try and try again”!

Phil Running Bear has lived a life that is full. Starting his life as an emancipated minor in Hollywood, California, where he worked as a stunt double for three years in the 80’s. He has been a cook, chef, executive chef, corporate chef and general manager for most of his culinary career, spanning 35 years. Cooking and creating are his first love. He worked in Glacier National Park and at a Posh resort at Furnace Creek in Death Valley, California. He also worked for the El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon. He has worked as a Corporate Chef, having been responsible for training executive chefs at many restaurants at one point in his life. He worked for Marriott Hotels as a Chef and took part in an employee exchange with Euro Disney, where he worked six months outside of Paris in a restaurant called the Blue Bayou, which is located at the beginning of the popular “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride. He operates many online business concerns,  the most important being a children’s charity site, raising a considerable sum on an annual basis. He earned Business Management and Accounting degrees at the age of forty. He arrived DOA at a Las Vegas hospital where his heart was stopped for 8 minutes before being resuscitated. Phil has written over 200 songs. He was a studio musician when in Hollywood. He worked with Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra and George Harrison of the Beatles in the late 80’s. He plays guitar, harmonica and keyboards. Phil can be found on iHeart Radio and spotify. He has very talented children and step children that all play instruments and sing very well. Phil also enjoys writing westerns as he loves the stories by the old western authors that did their research before writing a story. Such authors as Louis L’Amour, Max Brand and Zane Grey.

When I sing, I become a different person. All my troubles and worries just disappear.
